Passing of Pete Seeger, American Folk Legend

We are sad to learn of the passing of Pete Seeger.  He was born in 1919 and became a fixture on radio in the 1940’s.  As a member of the Weavers, he had a string of hits in the 1950’s.  Into the 1960’s he was prolific singer of protest music for civil rights, environmental causes and disarmament.

He was still active in his 90’s, singing, writing music and, as ever, marching in solidarity for issues close to his heart.

Sadly, on Monday 27th January, he passed away in his sleep and we send our condolences to Pete's family at this sad time.

The Linlithgow Folk Festival Association regularly received messages of Support, from Pete, for the annual Matt McGinn night.
